Pastor Sean was born in Yoakum, Texas and raised on several Army posts throughout the United States.  Growing up in a split Catholic/Baptist house he developed a love for Holy Scripture and the traditional liturgy of the Church.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BS in biochemistry and Texas A&M University with a MS in chemistry.

He was a member of the Texas Army National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2003 with B BTRY 2/131FA TXARNG from Wichita Falls, TX, which was attached to the 4th Infantry Division.  During his time in Iraq he began to feel God’s call to ministry.  Eventually Pr. Sean graduated from Faith Evangelical Seminary with an MDiv and Australian Lutheran College with a GradDip in Theological Studies.

Pr. Sean was ordained in the Lutheran Church of Australia in December 2011 and served his first parish, Natimuk Lutheran Parish (4 points) in rural Victoria, Australia from February 2012 to April 2016.  Pr. Sean was received into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod via colloquy in December of 2020.

Pr. Sean is married to Dr. Marie McMaughan, a veterinarian in Dallas, and they have two daughters, Emily and Sophia.  Pr. Sean’s hobbies include Rugby (more watching than playing these days), hiking, shooting, throwing tomahawks, and reading.

Pr. Sean’s favorite Scripture verse is Isaiah 40:8 – “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (NKJV
